Two ways to eat local this winter

Since the beginning, Island Grown has worked to make a year-round food system more of a reality for our community. There are many challenges to growing in a cold, northern climate, magnified by the fact that our economy is so seasonal. Everyone should have access to nutritious, local produce year-round, though. This winter we have two programs to help you eat local!

The MV Magazine's latest article "Green, Green Fields of Winter" gives more background about our popular winter CSA. We're currently accepting applications, which you can find here. You can sign up for 12 or 24 weeks and have the option for just vegetables, just meat and eggs, or meat, eggs and vegetables. It's a great Christmas gift for a friend or family member! The CSA will also feature produce from other local island farmers this winter.

Due to customer demand, our Mobile Market will hit the road from January 9th until February 27th! We will make weekly stops at Woodside Village on Wednesdays from 3 to 4pm. Produce from our greenhouse and local farmers will be set up in Woodside Village community room (in the main building) for all to come by and shop. This will be open to the public, so please do stop by! And remember, you can use your HIP benefits when shopping on the Mobile Market, even this winter!
