In these uncertain times we want to take a few moments to connect with all of you, our community, to give some updates. Though the news can be unsettling we're being lifted up by the return of the red winged blackbirds to the farm, the new green shoots that appear in the field every day and the increasing warmth coaxing seeds out of the soil and up towards the lengthening daylight.
Following protocol, and with the safety and health of our staff in mind, our farm will be closed to the public until further notice. The black container for home food waste drop off that is usually located by our greenhouse will be moved to outside the fence, by the gate. You are still welcome to come by and dump your home food waste into this container, but please stay outside the fence line.
We have re-deployed our school based staff to help with food production at the farm. As always, all of our eggs and produce will be available for sale at Cronig's Market and the Ghost Island farm stand. For those who have asked or are curious, we will not be selling these directly from our farm.
We're also taking time to connect with our partners in the Food Equity Network to make sure our community can access services they need during this time of widespread closures. MV Community Services has a list of food access resources on their website. They are also acting as a clearinghouse for organizations and volunteers during the crisis. If you're interested in volunteering to help vulnerable Islanders with basic needs and food access with IGI or one of our food equity partners, please fill out this form.
Stay safe and healthy everyone.
