FREE FOOD WASTE DROP-OFF

Drop off household food waste for free at the Island Grown Farm, Chappy ferry dock, and select Island transfer stations. Edgartown, Chilmark, and West Tisbury are currently accepting food waste drop off for free. The service is $2 for a five-gallon bucket at the remaining transfer stations.
Free countertop buckets are available at all Island waste facilities and the Island Grown office.

Please join American Farmland Trust for an on-farm field walk at Island Grown Initiative. AFT and IGI are partnering in multiple ways that help enhance farm viability and climate resilience through regenerative agricultural practice adoption.

For 20 years, Island Grown Initiative has worked to build a strong local food system for all on Martha’s Vineyard through farm to school education, food access programs that support more than 1 in 5 year-round residents, and a 42-acre regenerative farm that helps heal the environment while producing abundant food for the community.
